Club updates

Dear Bitton Road Runners

We hope you are all safe and well - and that you have been able to keep those legs ticking-over during the recent restrictions!

During a committee meeting, held this week over Zoom, it was decided that now is the time to kick-start the running at Bitton Road Runners.

Initially we cannot use the clubhouse to meet, due to the current restrictions and England Athletics guidelines - so we will be looking to meet-up at various locations, appropriate to the type of session being offered.

Terry has contacted all coaches and most are happy to lead sessions at different venues so we are hoping to offer :

  • Kenyan Hills meeting at Warmley Forest
  • Hills meeting on School Road
  • Pace groups meeting at club house car park
  • Track on Cycle path
  • Track - to be arranged - possibly on a Monday at Yate

We are currently limited to a maximum of 6 runners per group, including any coach but we can organise a number of groups at each venue safely.

This will be just the first stage of an ongoing process, aiming to bring the club back together, in line with the guidance provided by EA - but we are looking to implement it as soon as possible.

We would like to know if this is something you would be happy and comfortable with in the current situation.  We are mindful that groups of you are already meeting and still training but there are a number of runners who have not been able to get out with fellow club runners and are struggling to keep the training going. We are hoping this is a first step in formalising our come back.

Please reply to this e mail and let us know your thoughts. If you have any concerns or comments  please reply to  jan.isaac57@gmail.com and she will collate views and  feed back to the committee. Not all the committee members use social media so it is more helpful to share views through this email address . Thanks

We are very much looking forward to seeing you all and getting back  to running with the club .

An additional email has gone out to  all award winners about arrangements for trophy collection.
